Life can be pretty hectic and stressful at times (and in some phases of life that is a drastic understatement). With so many things to juggle, it’s easy to forget about the importance of taking care of ourselves and prioritizing rest and relaxation.
I know I’ve been (and still am) more than guilty of this, but over the years, I’ve learned that incorporating and truly prioritizing rest, relaxation, and self-care into my routine is essential if I want to be able to do all the other things I would rather be doing. Being chronically ill, my health can fall really fast – if I get too stressed or not enough rest I’ll get sick and be down for the count for a few days while I recover – ultimately putting me more behind than if I had just taken the time to take care of myself in the first place.
I don’t want that to happen to you, so that’s why I wrote this list to share with you some of my favorite self-care products for rest & relaxation! These products have been game-changers for me, and I hope they will be for you too! So, whether you’re dealing with a stressful job, managing a chronic illness, or simply needing a little “me-time,” keep reading to discover some of my top picks!
Acupressure Mat

A couple of years ago, I heard someone talking about the benefits of acupressure. They were saying it could help promote circulation, boost your mood, ease pain, and even release endorphins! I was intrigued, so I started researching and reading up on the topic. After going down a bit of a rabbit hole, I decided to make the purchase and bought myself an acupressure mat!
To be totally honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when it arrived. When I pulled it out of the box, I was surprised at how spiky it was. I mean, the spikes are small, but they’re definitely sharp enough to be noticeable! I have to admit, the first time I used it, it was a little intense. If you put too much pressure on one spot, it doesn’t feel great. But after a few minutes, I started to get used to the sensation and found that it was actually quite relaxing.
Soon, I started incorporating the acupressure mat into my meditation practice. It’s been such a fun way to combine two activities that are both helping my health!
I love how the mat is such an easy way to improve my health. I don’t have to do anything fancy or time-consuming. I just lay down on it for a few minutes and let it work its magic. And afterward, I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated! Whenever I start to feel stressed out or overwhelmed, I know exactly where to turn for some quick relief. Essential oils are one of my go-to solutions when I need to de-stress or boost my mood and energy! I’m a bit hesitant to share this last one because I know that it’s not easily affordable or doable for most (including me), but it has become an essential part of not only my physical health healing regimen but also my self-care and relaxation.

After a lot of research and careful consideration, we decided to invest in a sauna that would not only benefit me but also my loved ones. I am well aware of how lucky and privileged I am to have access to such a resource and don’t want to add this to the list acting like this was a simple decision or easily affordable option because it wasn’t – BUT I share this to shed light on how useful saunas can be and how even something like a membership to a sauna spa could be a tool that could help you too!
When I go into the sauna, I leave all electronics behind and try to focus on being present and still. I might bring a book or listen to a meditation through the sauna speakers, but the point is to take a break from the constant stimulation of screens and notifications. It can be challenging to find that kind of stillness in our everyday lives, but the sauna helps me prioritize quiet time for myself.
